You will find that hardware companies will not support the encoding software and vice versa so this can prove to be a little frustrating. We have learned a few things that may help you. Keep in mind, however, that this information is by no means a guarantee that your equipment and software will be compatible. Nor is this meant to serve as a shopping list. At the end of the day, we are a streaming provider but have spent a lot of time and resources to make sure that you are informed. Here is what we have found:
Blackmagic products such as the Intensity Pro and ATEM Switchers will need a scalar in order to work well with the Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLE). Without a scalar you may find that FMLE will take up a significant amount of your computer’s CPU which may cause errors in the encoding process. This will in turn lead to interruptions in live streaming.
You can remedy this by purchasing the Wirecast software which works well with Blackmagic Intensity Pro and ATEM switcher without the use of a scalar device.
FMLE is free while Wirecast starts out at approximately $495.00. To get a decent scalar, you will look to spend approximately $300.00.
